In Wacadfur (Breaking the promise), a dying man is saved by a hyena who turns the man into a werewolf who can communicate with animals, in return for a promise to never reveal the hyenas' secret. But he does reveal the secret and pays dearly for doing so. In Dhurwaa magaca ha la iga beddelo (Hyena asks for a name change), a hyena calls a meeting of animals to request a name change because he claims hyenas' bad reputation is because they are misunderstood; the animals prove him wrong. In Dhurwaa indho la' iyo dawaco (A blind hyena and a fox), a fox tricks a blind hyena by claiming the earth ate all of the hyena's goats, when it was the fox who ate them. In Libaax bukooday (The sick lion), an ailing, aging lion tricks other animals into its den, then eats them, but a fox figures this out, and the lion dies a harsh death. In Ilma shabeel oo geel ku tuntay (The leopard's children are trampled on by camel), instead of taking revenge on the camel who trampled her children, a leopard kills many goats. When her children protest this misdirected revenge, she tells them this is the way of nature and animals |
