""My name is Angelica and this is the list of things I had imagined for myself: a faithful boyfriend, a nice terrace, parents without great expectations. Too bad none of them came true. Here is the list of things that happened: I abandoned everything, leaving for England and finding myself with an unexpected job. So I arrived at Chaverton House, an old mansion in Dorset. This trip was supposed to be just a quick visit to investigate an old family history, and instead it turned out to be a lot of more. Now silencing the elusive manager of the estate, is not easy. He is requiring me to guide tourists. I have to memorize the details of a TV series set in Chaverton. People just want to see every corner of every cult scene. I prefer tea sets, walls with motifs, the flowers and above all the library which houses the first editions of Jane Austen and Emily Brontë. It's like immersing myself in the novels I love. And this is priceless. Seeing Alessandro is now the norm. I suffer more and more from his charm. Maybe the decision to stay is not so right, because I know very well that what you shouldn't do is what you want the most. What I don't know is whether to follow my head or the heart." -- Cataloger's abridgment, translation, and interpretation of the synopsis on the dust jacket |
