An interest in design began at an early age for Malene Birger, when she was originally inspired by both her grandmother and mother's sharp eye for fashion and trends. On completing her Fashion Design Degree at the prestigious The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts - The School of Design in 1989, Malene Birger started her remarkable career. Primarily, as a fashion designer at Jackpot by Carli Gry, then as head designer of womens wear at Marc Oi¿ưPolo, Stockholm, until 1997 when she established her first company. Just six months after starting Day Birger et Mikkelsen she won her first Danish Design Award, going on to be the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions since. Malene moved on to establish her second brand in 2003, as Creative Director and CEO of BY MALENE BIRGER A/S. From its inception, BY MALENE BIRGER has expanded to become a vibrant international brand, with representation in over 42 countries around the world
The author showcases her three homes and gives a preview of her new showroom in Copenhagen for her design and interior brand "Birger1962"
Discover Malene's most recent homes in Palma, S'Arraco, London and a preview of Birger1962's new showroom in Copenhagen. Each location expresses Malene's desire to draw on direct contrasts of raw, intuitive, modern or traditionally crafted style with influences from her global travels. The mood and taste of the environment is as relevant as the interior
